Safe Water/EnvironmentSAFE WATER / ENVIRONMENT

Millions in the developing world do not have access to safe drinking water and good sanitation. This can result in waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, hepatitis A, and typhoid fever. CCP works with local governments, communities, and organizations to communicate the benefits of safe water and clean environments. For example, after Hurricane Mitch hit Nicaragua in 1998, CCP developed the Blue Star campaign, a strategic communication program designed to increase the prevalence of appropriate water handling and environmental health practices, and to contribute to the reduction of the incidence of acute diarrheal diseases.
